Why You Should Try Cannabis-Infused Lube

Have you ever considered bringing THC to the bedroom before? Well perhaps you should.

As a 25 year old woman, I can say that for me personally, sex is a very essential key to a fulfilled life. And yes, I mean the actual act itself. And no, I don’t mean be reckless and risky in order to obtain sex and it’s paired benefits. Sexual prowess and nymphomania are two completely different things. While it can greatly improve life, it can also cause great harm depending on your relationship to yourself and how your individual body craves the interaction.

Though most tend to believe it’s about attraction through the argument of hook up culture, infidelity, and chemistry - surprisingly, its the hormonal release within the brain and body that we are actually feeling affect us in these special moments. Whether solo or partnered, the importance of having really good intimate experiences has become more of an understood focal point than it seems it has been in the past.

In history, we’ve seen the practices of the famed Kama Sutra and numerous orientations of acts from nearly all communities and societies, religious and secular. Majority of historical records and writings we have today are ones that were well protected, silently whispered, and secretly displayed in order to preserve the practices honored by families, traditions, and experimentalists alike.

We’ve also seen the flux in modern culture as sex was liberated from shameful transactions of power and possession to return to the scared form of connection and creation that it is. So to see this prominent surge in society where we can finally acknowledge and accept that sex is indeed a most private and intimate act, it is also imperative that it still must be spotlighted in a healthy way to pass on knowledge that best benefit us all.

The only reason we are all sitting here in 2024 is because humans have been having sex for thousands of years, so why not see where we can do better?

My Perspective

My discovery into the world of pleasure was in part due to personal exploration and in part due to my time working in the intimate retail store, Adam & Eve. This space of sensual and silly connection and conversation helped to open my eyes to the world of pleasure in the most gentle way. My supportive team of staff and I became close, sharing our own spicy experiences with each other the way customers would when shopping. From the beginning, I felt I left work everyday having learned something new about the body or myself. Whether it be shame, dirty talk, or squirting, we accepted each topic and offered our perspectives with respect.

Naturally, I began to research how cannabis could aid intimacy. For my own personal experience, cannabis has been a heaven sent savior for various reasons. I have learned that the plant produces various comforting and stimulating effects depending on the product and consumption. It’s very possible to find relief of anxiety, appetite loss, and stress and now increase arousal. Cannabis works for women in a very similar form that Viagra works for men. It increases the blood flow to the area you’re focusing on and with more circulation, there is heightened sensitivity, making achieving an O that much easier.

The states offering a legal cannabis market are allowing an exciting new fantasy-turned-reality forefront in sexual wellness, offering a natural and holistic approach to enhancing pleasure and promoting overall well-being. With the cannabis plant’s already known potential to provide relaxation, alleviate discomfort, increase sensation, and foster intimacy, it only seemed logical. CBD oils and lubes have garnered attention as a promising option for individuals seeking to elevate their sexual experiences solo or shared.

My hope is to demystify the wonder of cannabis infused canoodling, sharing what individuals can expect when delving into the pleasurable products out there, and pull back the blinds on how the bud can elevate your sex life.

While some products are not quite as easily identifiable (or popularly sought after) there is one that most people seem to replenish regularly. Lube. Nearly everyone sexually active has a bottle of lube in their toy box. As they should, since moisture makes it all that much better.

When choosing the right lube, consider a few key factors first:

Are you planning to play solo or with another adult?

If you’re seeking skin to skin contact, I’d recommend a silicone based lube or hybrid lube (silicone and water base) to maintain slickness on the skin. Water based lubes are best for sensitive people, but absorb into the skin faster and can sometimes leave a tacky feel when you’ve no plans for stopping.

Are you planning to use latex condoms or latex/silicone toys?

When using condoms - a water based lube is better over a thicker silicone one. Certain ingredients can enhance the experience, but erode the material of condoms and adult toys. Be sure that no matter which brand you purchase, you carefully read if it is condom or toy compatible. Nothing will ruin a storm more than getting a hole in your rain coat.

Do you have any allergies?

Speaking from personal experience, the worst way to end a night is with an allergic reaction down under. READ THE INGREDIENTS. Many lubes boast moisturizing and stimulating features, however, this is usually from the addition of coconut oil, peppermint, cinnamon, etc. The most common ingredient that majority of people need to be on the lookout for is tree nut oils. Sweet almond, Black walnut, and shea butter are often added to formulas but as these are some of the most common allergies, it’s important for those with them to be vigilant. While on this note, also make sure your partner hasn’t been close to anything you’re allergic or sensitive to, trust me!

And finally, do you want to feel stoned or simply feel pleasure?

For those who enjoy cannabis regularly, the answer may be an excited duh! But for those who don’t partake or are still learning their limits, it might be a better fit to find something without a mental affect. A CBD lube has more than enough power to deliver an O. Don’t get it twisted either, just because it’s non-psychoactive doesn’t mean you won’t feel anything. It just means that if you want to feel a strong high then you should also smoke.

Asking yourself these questions beforehand can help direct you to the perfect starting place.

The ones I’ve tried:

For the most of these with CBD I was able to purchase them online or in store, but the ones with THC ingredients were products I was able to try when I visited their respective legal states. Ranked in order from most minimal to strongest in affect, my heart has been stolen by the market in Oregon, as they are home to the best THC clitoral spray I’ve found.

The very first canna-lube I tried was the arousal oil from Foria. I got it when I was working in a dispensary here in lower Manhattan. Of course, upon my hire and training I found myself enticed by the prospect of elevated sexual fun. While it didn’t set off fireworks, it did create more awareness to the touch of my partner which was nice, and it did create more wetness it seemed. At 15 mg of CBD, I think this would be the best starting point for a timid sensual seeker.

I got a sample of the Ooey Dewy back in 2022 from a cannabis pop-up in Brooklyn. It ranks in the lower to mid range of dose levels and while the initial impression is “oh this stuff is deweeeey” which should be a good sign, if you’re a bit like me and you like to take as much time as you want in the moment, then you may find that this lube dries a little too soon and does leave a slight tacky feeling in the areas of application to really experience and enjoy the sensations.

Undisclosed mg of CBD

In 2023 I became a brand ambassador for HPHW and was able to select a few products to try and review. Their Rouse oil actually impressed me so much. The levels of cannabis are not stated, but based on the sensations I’d be surprised if it was lower than 50-75 mg of CBD. The cinnamon made me nervous initially, but the tingly feeling was reminiscent of a gentle vibrator. I tried this one for the first time with a partner and we definitely found it enjoyable. But the night that stole the show was actually with myself and my Womanizer (a world wide loved sex toy focused on clitoral stimulation to assist in closing the orgasm gap). After that solo finale, this one stays in the nightstand.

30 mg of CBD

30 mg of D8 THC, 250 mg of D9 THC

This one I was able to purchase in Santa Monica, California and try with my boyfriend at the time. Voted #1 by Cosmo for water-based lube, Kush Queen offers CBD, Delta 8, and Delta 9 specific choices. The CBD will be best for something a bit more mellow, though smokers may mostly drift to the Delta 8 and 9 as they provide a stronger dose of cannabis. The levels of sensitivity created from the Delta 9 that I tried were jarring when compared to a regular stimulant or lube. Even the blow of breath was back arching.

* what the heck is Delta THC ?? Delta 8 and Delta 9 are both 2 parts of100+ compounds in the cannabinoid suite, isolated from the rest of the plant to produce a more specific desired effect. Delta 9 is the psychoactive compound that most people feel when they get ‘high’. Delta 8 is the baby bear to Delta 9, still causing a high but at a much milder level that Delta 8 or traditional THC. *

155 mg of THC

Well well, passing through on the Oregon trail I came across a stimulating oil with both THC and CBD. The dosage on this one is on the higher end of the spectrum, and that could be why it’s my personal favorite. I was blown away during use when I noticed my whole body relax, as if I had just eaten an edible. It’s important to note that my partner actually ended up feeling a difference as well based only on my application to myself. So keep in mind - if you use with a partner and they don’t want the effects. This one will definitely melt you from the inside out. If I happen back to a dispensary with this on the shelf, I’ll be grabbing two.

A few brands that I still want to try are: Privy Peach, Quim, and Her Highness

I have been following the Privy Peach brand on IG since my first travels to Colorado, and I believe this was one of the earliest cannabis products with a focus on women and improving their lives. Quim is one I’ve learned about recently, and it caught my attention as ‘quim’ used to be the worst word you could call a woman - until See-You-Next-Tuesday took that trophy. They focus on creating mindful products to protect the vaginal PH and bacterial composition that can be so easily thrown off by poor quality products and ingredients. Her Highness I found during a collaboration with a cannabis PR group here in NYC when I was able to visit and review products from the incredible Union Square Travel Agency Dispensary. The lube I have my eye on is only available in California right now at licensed retailers as it’s their THC formula, but I have heard great word of mouth about her CBD version.

Hopefully this has helped to make the many available cannabis sex products less daunting to curious canna-sseurs. If you happen to give these a try after this read, I’d love to hear your about your own experience.

Thanks so much for being here, and live life like art - beautifully!
