2024 : the Dream Life
The Year of the Dragon
If you are looking at your calendar and wondering how 2019 came to suddenly be 2024, rest assured, you are not alone. I too have been caught up in the whirlwind of life since my graduation 2017 and as we all well know, the great COVID pandemic that kicked off in 2019. The years the world has spent recovering since the viral shutdown have affected everyone in their own unique ways. One thing I think everyone shares, regardless of how they’ve lived the last few years or their whole life, is the hope to live a secure, fulfilled and happy life.
Of course this is not as simply done as it is said, but I believe that through the honest awareness and compassionate actions of humanity that we can craft this future for ourselves and the generations to come. In order to participate in this process of change, it becomes a personal mission you must actively work towards everyday.
I know that one person or one change may seem insignificant when you consider the billions of people in the world and therefore billions of actions needed by others as well. But what happens when the first domino falls? A chain reaction of fallen dominos that displays a most beautifully hidden work of art. one adds up over many then you’ll find the proof of progress.
For my personal work, I find it easiest to keep track of all that I want to do and monitor what I am able to accomplish from there. If I attempt to check in mid year or mid project it can be overwhelming to sort through all of the phases to identify the successes, so I’ve developed an easier strategy.
When I make my vision boards at the beginning of the year ( or at the beginning of each month) I keep my to-do list and calendar updated with those same goals throughout the year. Then, at the end of each month I will write all my achievements from that month into my monthly vision board. This makes keeping track of my goals and growth so much more simple when I go month by month versus reviewing the entire year at once. It also gives me the opportunity to notice if I can do something faster, better, or different altogether while I’m still working on that phase.
The past few years have been paramount in my personal development and career growth as it’s given me the hands on ability to oversee my pursuits in various environments and mindsets. I have become attuned to my visions in every sense, and I know without a shadow of a doubt how I want my life to go from 25 to forever. This solid knowing of my soul is the compass I will follow into my future years, because with the light so clearly ahead of me, it will be impossible to lose my way in the darkness.
My mood boards for this year may be my favorite to see yet. The simmering feeling of excitement in my stomach stems from the past years I’ve spent dreaming and seeing the work pay off. I know my goals may not be the same or even similar to the goals many others set for themselves. I know from what I’ve heard repeated by others for years that my goals aren’t the least bit realistic or complacent - but I do not seek to live a realistic and complacent life. What I seek will not be found in the comforts of my hometown or in the arms of a young lover. What I seek is me, in her most authentic and evolved self. If you don’t aim for the stars you’ll never find yourself above the ground.
Here is my mood board for the whole year of 2024.
Below are my target specific mood boards for the different aspects of my life I want to focus on.
This year of 2024, marks the transition from the the Universal ‘Year 7’ to Universal ‘Year 8’. Based on numerology, each year has it’s respective universal number which represents the themes and energies that the collective whole of humanity will face in that year. 2023 was the year of 7, and the major shift many faced was a reframing of perspective, mindset, and how you see yourself. I think we can all agree it was a long year of shadow work, soul searching, removing what no longer serves you, and making the necessary changes to improve. I, for one, am happy to say bon voyage to the year that was 2023.
2024 is the number 8 ( to find the annual number you add each number in a date together to equal the number it is represented by, so 2024 is 2 + 0 + 2 + 4 = 8 ) and is seen as the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac.
In 2023, numerology and the Eastern and Western zodiacs predicted the great awakening that we are seeing in waves across society. The understanding that we have arrived at a pivotal point in time as we advance in tech, science, and art in ways we never have due to current modern day circumstances. A massive world-wide disease, global inflation and class gaps, incredible feats of technology and engineering. It would seem as if we have set up a blossoming utopia for all to be free to access and enjoy - and yet we find numbers of mental health and bodily illnesses and homelessness on the rise. Many are seeking simply to provide for themselves and families, which I find mind-boggling as we see the ability to fund celebrity tours, superhero movies, and the mass amounts of vacant jobs claiming to care for the employees who they have pushed away. The sought-after American dream ignited and crumbled before our eyes.
It is up to us all moving forward to redesign the ideal life, the new American dream. A dream where we work and receive what we are owed from our efforts and a dream where we can rest knowing our taxes have paid to place our children in safe and nurturing schools or care programs. A dream where our nourishment bolsters our immunity rather than tearing it down. A dream where we can share ourselves with others and find not hate or praise, but simple and quiet compassion. A dream where we can build on the foundation our ancestors left and reach the skies in abundance and amity.
This is the time, as we have all seen in 2023. Now we find ourselves in the first throughs of 2024, and as the season of spring is soon upon us, so will be the season of change. By choosing to act with intentionality and hope and respect we may start to sow the seeds of love and through love we will see the magic return to our world.
Let us know and show immense love to ourselves.
Let us find family and friendship in those around us who live this life with us.
Let us think not solely from a place of “I” and “Me” and “Mine” for these thoughts bring us closer to the self, but further from the source.
Let us seek out the experiences and memories we will always cherish.
Let us rest and reset within the embrace of mother nature.
Let us use this fleeting time we have here with all that we are.
